Welcome to LegacyOrganizer©
Almost seventy percent of Americans die without a valid will. When a person dies intestate, state laws generally take precedence and probate courts are put in charge, distributing estate assets according to generic formulas that have nothing to do with the decedents' wishes.
Don't let that happen to you.
The LegacyOrganizer© helps you to begin the will planning process. It does not create a will or a legal document. Instead, it guides you in collecting and organizing your thoughts, information, and documents (all in Microsoft Word) so that you are prepared with this information before visiting your attorney.
Please note that most states allow an individual to compose his or her own will, but it is wise to employ a qualified attorney. A will is one of the least expensive legal documents to have prepared, and a well-written one could save your heirs a lot of money and hassle.
To protect your identity, LegacyOrganizer© will not ask for your Social Security number.
- If you cannot answer some questions, simply leave the space blank. You can always return to it at a later point.
- When done, the LegacyOrganizer© will generate a Microsoft Word document with your information organized. Save it to your computer (File > Save As, and choose Desktop for convenience).
- The LegacyOrganizer© consists of 20 pages. For your convenience, if you prefer not to use the LegacyOrganizer© online, you can download a similar version in PDF format. Simply print and fill it out by hand.
